Mr. Anyuezehan, Counselor of the Peoples Government of Beijing Municipality Delivered a Keynote Speech in the Opening Ceremony

[March 27th, 2006]

Mr. Anyuezehan, Counselor of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality

【Mr. Anyuezehan】Ladies and Gentlemen, first, I'm really happy to welcome the U.S. Business & Trade Delegation lead by Mr. Mark Skousen. They come to China from afar, and tomorrow they'll begin their trip around major Chinese cities.

【Mr. Anyuezehan】We see that the 21st century is an ever-changing century. Changes in China depend on the continuous policy of opening-up. China has now become a new star among the developping countries. China has an unique market economy. And under the guidance of the government's macro-economic policy, China's economy is prospering.

【Mr. Anyuezehan】By 2005, China's foreign exchange has amounted to 8.8 trillion U.S. dollars, ranked No. 2 in the world. From 1993 to 2005, the annual growth rate of China's GDP is 9.9%, which should mainly be contributed to important macro-control policy. In 2005, the growth rate of China's GDP is 9.4%. In this aspect, China has experienced great changes. China's economic strength has been improving. But China is not a selfish country. Actually, China is very generous. The Chinese people are trying all they can to provide the world with high-quality yet low-price products. Take 2005's America for example, the Americans, through using imported Chinese products and services, have spared 500 U.S. dollars per house. In other words, each house has earned 500 more U.S. dollars. If we put all the money spared by the American families together, it amounted to 45 billion U.S. dollars. So China's economic development is a multi-win situation. For everyone in each country of the world, for each enterprise and each country, this is a very good thing.

【Mr. Anyuezehan】the 21st century has brought many new changes, especially technological advances, e.g. digital technology, high-tech and communication technology etc. Just because of the development in these high-tech, the world is becoming smaller and smaller. We are getting closer and closer. We live under the same roof. Distance throughout the world has shortened. In the meantime, we have kept our independence.

【Mr. Anyuezehan】In an economically globalized era, we need to think about many issues. Among them, I think there are two extremely important isseus. The first is environmental problem, e.g. water. We should consider how to save water, how to use new technologies, how to transform seawater into fresh water and how to transform waste water into usable fresh water. This issue is worth our careful consideration. The second is terrorism. Countries in this world should coordinate our efforts and moblize all resources to achieve world peace. This is exactly what Asia-Pacific CEO Association focuses on --- promoting friendship and business & trade links among countries. In the 21st century, China has become the center fo the Asia-Pacific region. China should devote itself to meeting the benefits of all countries in this region, to promoting cross-cultural communication, to facilitating cooperation among countries through all kinds of ways. Actually, the goal of our Asia-Pacific CEO Association is to build a network between Chinese enterpreneurs and government officials, to set up a brand and to promote economic development.

【Mr. Anyuezehan】Wish you a wonderful night here. Thank you!
