Firstly, I'd like to convey my sincere thanks to the Asia-Pacific CEO Association, the Government of Sichuan Province, and the Municipal Government of Chengdu for your kind invitation. It's a great honor for me to deliver my speech and make an introduction to Jilin Province in the International Cooperation Summit for CEOs & Provincial Governors and Mayors. Here, on behalf of the Government of Jilin Province, I wish this Summit a complete success.

Located in the center of Northeast Asia, covering an area of 187.4 thousand square killometers and with a population of 2.73 million, Jilin Province has nine cities and sixty counties bordering on Liaoling Province, Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang Province to the south, west and north respectively. Its GDO stood at 522.6 billion yuan acounting for 2.1% of the total in 2007. Jilin Province is an important industrial base as well as an important commercial grain base and emerging wood production base. With abundant resources and production factors, Jilin Province has a great foundation for conducting international cooperation.

First of all, Jilin enjoys an extensive range of industries and distinct industrial characteristics, which provide a broad development space for the introduction of industry capital from home and abroad for the following reasons:

1). The auto and other machinery industries of Jilin occupy a prominent position,and the auto industry is the principal pillar industry in Jinlin province. At present, the FAW Group Corporation only accounts for 40% in the purchase of parts in Jilin and therefore, there is still much room for development. Besides, the Changchun Car Company is the largest production base for passenger trains in Asia and has a lot of new development opportunities;

2). We have a sound base for the development of the oil industry which is the second largest pillar industry in Jilin Province. PetroChina Jilin Company is an important petrochemical base and the Jilin Oil Field is the sixth largest field on land in China;

3). The agricultural products are developing fast. The Changchun Dacheng Industry Group Co.,Ltd. is the world's third largest integrated corn processing enterprise and the output of lysine has been topping the world since 2007. Besides, TAG Group is Asia's largest calf processing enterprise;

4). The medicine industry is growing rapidly. Jilin is a modern production base for Chinese traditional medicine industrialization, taking the lead in production and the profits from the sales of Chinese patent drugs rank the first nationwide. Jinlin enjoys advantages in developing the modern traditional Chinese medicine and bio-pharmaceutical products with proprietary intellectual property right;

5). Jinlin has a solid foundation for the photoelectron information industry. Our country has approved the establishment of Changchun optoelectronic industrial base, and many of the optical instruments used in aerospace equipment for the series of Shenzhou spaceship are from Jilin Province. The development of opto-electronics information industry and other high-tech industryies have great potentials;

6). There are great potentials for the development and utilization of energy. In the central and western Jilin Province and the eastern coastal plain region, there are rich wind energy resources. There are also many opportunities for cooperation in terms of wind energy and clean energy development, especially power generation by means of using wastes and reduction in emissions of iron and steel gases;

7).Tourism enjoys great prospects. Changbai Mountain is one of the Chinese top ten mountains and the world cultural heritage. The Jilin Rime is one of China's four major wonders, and Changchun Film Century City—China's first movie theme park— is known as one of the best places of interest for tourists in Jilin. The tourism infrastructure has been greatly improved and the  tourism has become the Jilin's new economic growth point.

Secondly, Jilin is enjoying accelerated economic and social development, becoming more appealing to attract foreign investment and more capable of taking on the task of industrial transfer from developed countries and areas. Since the implementation of the strategy to rejuvenate the the old industrial base in Northeast China, Jilin has achieved marked results in reform and opening up, the investment envirement has improved considerably and the speed of economic development has quickened. The GDP of this province has increased from 266.2 billion in 2003 to 522.6 billion in 2007, and the speed of development and fixed assets investment have been leading the country in the past few years. There are nearly 10 thousand foreign-funded enterprises and 48 of the top 500 have made their presence in Jilin province, like Volkswagen, Arthur Foote, Alstom SA and so on  and. There are many large programs such as the International Development Project of Tumen River Region as well as the eight infrastructure construction projects waiting for your participation.
